Research and Planning : Day Of the Dead

Day of The Dead Festival:

As the opening sequence in Spectre is based around the Day of the dead, i decided to look further into the idea , possibly even incorporating it into my own personal work.
Originally a Mexican Holiday normally celebrated particularly in South and Central regions.  The Reasoning behind the festival is to honour family and love one who have past on.  It's a gathering of prayer and celebration to help support the dead spiritually.  The festival Last for three day from the 31st October till 2nd November.

Beliefs :

"On October 31, All Hallows Eve, the children make a children's altar to invite the angelitos (spirits of dead children) to come back for a visit. November 1 is All Saints Day, and the adult spirits will come to visit. November 2 is All Souls Day, when families go to the cemetery to decorate the graves and tombs of their relatives. The three-day fiesta filled with marigolds, the flowers of the dead; muertos (the bread of the dead); sugar skulls; cardboard skeletons; tissue paper decorations; fruit and nuts; incense, and other traditional foods and decorations." (Frances Ann Day, Latina and Latino Voices in Literature)

People attend the cemetery, create private alters of the decease favorite things, food, memorabilia and photos. The intention is to provoke a visit from the other side through prayers and rituals.
